Zoo With Friends

In May we met up with a friend of mine from the singles branch, Ali, and her two kids Kaiden and Kaylie. They are right about the same ages as Rachael and Anna. We had fun playing at the zoo. We got to see brand new nubian goat twins. The girls loved petting them and feeling their soft coats. We also heard the lioness making quite a ruckus. The lion was not in the enclosure, but you could hear him roaring at her from somewhere else in the zoo. Rachael decided it was fun to climb as high as she could on the tiger enclosure. Not so fun. She will not be doing that again. She also showed her new friends how to hunt for dropped duck food on the bridge to feed to the ducks.

Conference

General Conference was a little harder this time around. I had a bunch of activity sheets printed out for the girls, but their attention wasn't held as much as the time we did the conference train. I'll probably go back to that one next time. Here is Anna regarding President Monson and then showing him the picture she colored of him. Cuteness.

Make up

Ack! Grrr. Breathe. Sigh.
Another attack of the Anna Monster. I ended up throwing away about a third of it.

Green lantern

We went to a fundraising dinner in May for the youth at church. There was face painting and games and such. Rachael came back with Hello Kitty on her cheek. Here's Anna's.

She really loves green.

Rainbow Unicorn Birthday

Happy birthday to our dear Rachael! We just love her to bits. She was so funny. All day long, she wouldn't let me say that she was 5. She was certain she wouldn't be official until she had her birthday cake. She requested cheese quesadillas for dinner, which actually worked out pretty well with the griddle and prepping the fillings earlier that day.
For two months prior to the event, Rachael kept asking for a rainbow unicorn birthday. She was so excited to see her cake (thank you youtube) and the decorations (thank you oriental trading co.). I can't believe how old she looks in the pictures. She's lost all her baby fat.

It's Spring

I love spring! I'm so excited about the hyacinths. I was pretty emphatic with the girls about not touching them, since last year Anna popped all the buds off them before they had a chance to grow. The tulips are still not quite back to where they were before we replaced the dirt two autumns ago. Hopefully next year they will all flowers.

Zoo 2014

I purchased a dual zoo membership this year since Rachael is no longer free. We've already been a few times. The first time we went, I left my phone in the car. That was the day the snow leopard was pacing back and forth a foot away from the fence. He is never that close. We usually have to try and pick him out against the rocks at the top of his enclosure. Here is our second trip.

Check out the baby lemur. He is adorable. He would cling to his mother's belly fur whenever she climbed around.

We have new otters this year. We love watching them swim and play.

Rachael and Anna had to measure themselves against every animal outline. I love how they are lifting there legs to show that they are riding the tortoise.

This zebra looks like she has some crazy growth on her nose when you just glance at it.

The girls took a lot of time finding out all the names of the goats and sheep in the petting area.

The penguins are on parade in front of their empty pool. It is having some maintenance done.
