Seattle Trip II: Puget Sound Sunset

We got in to Seattle on Saturday. We had a really nice room at our hotel in Lynwood, north of Seattle, until... the toilet didn't work. We were switched to a room that wasn't quite as nice. It was fine, just the difference of being on the 2nd floor versus the 3rd, new carpet versus old, and east windows versus west. After we unpacked the car, I went to a grocery store while Patrick took the girls to the hotel pool. Rachael started making friends immediately. She beguiled a group of woman on a ladies weekend trip while at the pool.

We went to dinner and then Patrick decided to randomly drive around to see what we could see. We found this tiny park facing the Puget Sound. It was squished between two houses and was just big enough for two benches and a couple parking spaces. The girls had fun alternately making friends with everyone and their dogs and wading through the vegetation to get to the fence.

We got there just as the sun was starting to set. This must have been what the park was made for. I had been feeling rather frazzled and low. The sight of the golden sun setting over the mountains and water sent peace to my heart. What a wonderful token of God's love and watch care over me.

Seattle Trip I: Getting There

The first week of August, we took a week long family trip to Seattle. Patrick really wanted a good vacation as a kind of reward for surviving this past year. We wanted to explore some place new and Seattle fit the bill. We decided to go easy and take two days to get there. On the way, we stopped at my college mate's home in Richland, Washington. The girls enjoyed playing in Jennifer's backyard and it was nice to talk with her and her husband. I haven't physically seen her since the fall before my mission in 1998. I am not old. (I'll just repeat that mantra awhile)
